These wines are made by stopping the fermentation halfway through. This is done by adding wine based alcohol which kills the yeast. The result is that a large proportion of the grape sugars remain , giving the wines their sweetness.

Cazes’ skill in maturing Natural Sweet Wines is unmatched, the most prestigious vintages lie in oak vats for over twenty years. Younger wines are designed to be fine and elegant – which is why the Muscat de Rivesaltes of Cazes has long been held up as a bench mark. Nowadays, Cazes propose a large range of Natural Sweet Wines that one can find in the most famous restaurants in the world, rich wines with different flavours: tropical and citrus for the Muscat de Rivesaltes ; dried fruits for the Rivesaltes Ambré; toasted notes and chocolate for the Rivesaltes Tuilé; red fruits for the Rivesaltes Grenat.

Probably best known as aperitifs, they truly come into their own with desserts. The secret is to match the colour of the wine with the colour of your dessert !!
