1895
Maison Cazes, located in Rivesaltes, in the heart of the Roussillon region, between the Pyrenees Mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, was founded by Michel Cazes in 1895.

Michel’s son, Aimé, convinced his father to buy Mas Joffre, a farmhouse that once belonged to Maréchal Joseph Joffre, the French First World War hero and native of the area.

Over the years, the domaine acquired neighboring parcels of land and, by the 1950s, it extended over 40 hectares. The first bottles of Cazes wine appeared in 1955, at the instigation of André, the eldest of Aimé’s two sons.

Aimé’s sons, André and Bernard, took over the running of the domaine. André was responsible for sales and Bernard managed operations on the domaine, which already covered 60 hectares.

When Bernard’s son, Emmanuel, joined the business, the domaine started its conversion to organic and biodynamic growing.

Since 2004 Lionel Lavail the son of a local wine producer took the direction of Maison Cazes
2005
The entire domaine became a certified Organic and Biodynamic estate.

Cazes acquired Domaine Les Clos de Paulilles, an iconic domaine located in the Anse de Paulilles, between Banyuls and Collioure

Domaine Cazes celebrated the 20th anniversary of its conversion to biodynamics. Today the vineyards extend over 220 hectares, covering all of Roussillon’s different terroirs and giving birth to outstanding wines every year.
